Since at least the 1970s, the Canton of Toropalca (Norchichas-Potosi) has unquestionably become a strong pole of international migration to Argentina, mostly of Bolivians. These historical circumstances turned immigration into a common social practice which eventually mingled with the broader set of practices followed by the inhabitants of the area, forming a true "migration culture". The work involves the study of two central aspects of this process, here analytically separated into 1) the reconstruction of the "conditions of emigration" of affected communities and 2) the reconstruction and analysis of the "migration culture".
